“Life is like skiing. Just like skiing, the goal is not to get to the bottom of the hill, but to get a lot of good runs before sunset.”
(Seth Godin)
Giuliano Razzoli: 39 years of age, 157 World Cup races to which must be added the 3 starts at the Olympics and 8 at the World Championships for a total of 168 times at the gates that count, has announced his farewell to competitive racing.
A decision taken not exactly lightly by a champion who we have seen grow up and who has always been “at home” for us. In his career he has collected 11 podiums, including the unforgettable Olympic gold in Vancouver 2010, demonstrating that he is a real talent: an excellence of our land, a boy with a kind soul who has always brought with him the harshness of an Apennines sometimes stingy with snow and which often forces you to train “dry” dreaming of the snow-capped slopes of the Alps.

“I leave calm because I am happy with how I went through my entire adventure, and I am grateful for having been able to experience it. My great fortune is that of being born in a particular area for skiing, and I realized that I was able to convey many emotions to people. But everything I gave came back amplified. I thank the people who have taught me something in life, and there have been many, and who have allowed me to grow as an athlete and as a man: my family, my wife, my son, my parents and my sisters. I thank the Federation and the Army Sports Center who supported me and still support me. The coaches, teammates, sponsors, friends and all the people who loved me, helping me throughout my life. I also thank the world of skiing which made all this possible.”
These are the parting words that Giuliano addressed to competitive skiing and to all those who supported him on his journey from the slopes of the Reggio Emilia Apennines to those all over the world.
A farewell to skiing that sounds like a “goodbye” because, we know, when passion moves our steps we cannot resist its call for too long. But Giuliano’s passions are not limited to skiing. For several years he has dedicated himself to the production of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia DOP: a passion that is also a family tradition and a return to the origins.
For us at Li&Pra Giuliano is and will always be “family”, he entered hurtling like a rocket, as he did on the ski slopes when he was just a child, giving birth to dreams, passions and hopes in us which culminated in the unforgettable gold in Vancouver 2010 .
Today, with his choice to leave competitive racing, Giuliano makes the most important choice of his life, respecting the limits imposed by his body and giving priority to little Emanuele and new mother Elisa. We are certain that the path that awaits this extraordinary boy will be no less exciting and full of satisfactions than the one that saw him as a protagonist on the ski slopes and we can’t wait to celebrate with him the successes of the past and the promises of the future in the near future. July 20th.
